As a former college athlete, I have a special place in my heart for those playing the sport they love in the collegiate ranks.
Every season I like to showcase the former high school stars that have helped bring their teams to the biggest stage in college sports, the national tournament.
So for the Division I, II and III tournaments I’ll have capsules of each team that has a local on it.
First up is Division I. Only one of the 64 teams that made this season’s tournament has a local on its roster. It just so happens it’s a school not to far from us, either.
First round gets started Nov. 15.

Locals: Michelle Iannacchino, Somers, Sr., D.
Amy Marron, Westlake, Sr., M.
