North Rockland vs. Monroe Woodbury at Middletown, 3 p.m.
Who: Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders (17-1)
State ranking as of Nov. 4: No. 4
How they got here: Beat Washingtonville 1-0 in Section-9 final.
What you need to know: We all already know how this one ends, right? The Red Raiders handed the Crusaders their only loss of the season less than a month ago, securing a 1-0 win at Monroe-Woodbury. Seems like another win for North Rockland. In the words of the great Lee Corso, “Not so fast, my friend.” The Red Raiders would be foolish to overlook a talented Monroe-Woodbury squad that just took down the defending Class AA state champions, Washingtonville, in thrilling fashion.

Byram Hills vs. Goshen at Middletown, 11 a.m.
Who: Goshen Gladiators (17-0-1)
State ranking as of Nov. 4: No. 10
How they got here: Beat Saugerties 4-0 in Section-9 final.
What you need to know: The Gladiators cruised to their first sectional title since 1996. It’s been that type of season for Goshen, who has outscored opponents 74-4 this season. Those looking for a benchmark to judge the Gladiators on: Goshen defeated Cornwall 2-0 in the regular season, a team the Bobcats beat 5-1 on the road. Read into that what you will, though. Also of note, the Gladiators start nine sophomores.

Haldane vs. Friends Academy at Tully Park, 11:30 a.m.
Who: Friends Academy Quakers (10-2-2)
State ranking as of Nov. 4: No. 15
How they got here: Beat Section 11’s Stony Brook 5-1 in the regional semifinals.
What you need to know: The Blue Devils face another staple of the state tournament in the Quakers. Friends Academy has played in every state tournament since at least 2007 (that’s as far as the archives on the state website go back). While the Quakers are seemingly always Section-8’s representative in Class C, it wasn’t until recently that the Quakers have been able to make some deep runs. Last season Friends Academy made it to the state semifinals. In 2011 the Quakers were co-state champions (yes, you read that right).
