With the season coming to a close and league championships being decided every day, the stakes have risen for these final games.
There was Tappan Zee’s Marisa Bentley, who scored the winning goal in the Dutchies’ 1-0 at Nyack to clinch their league title. Bentley also had two goals in a 4-0 win at Nanuet.
Rachel Berk had back-to-back hat tricks on consecutive days for Eastchester as the Eagles won their first league title since 2006. One of Berk’s hat tricks came in a double-overtime win against Pelham to secure the title.
There were also the standard solid performances. Selin Selman posted four goals over two games for New Rochelle while Caleigh Plaut had two goals and three assists in two games for Irvington.
Special consideration also needs to be given to Pearl River coach Tim Peabody, who secured his 300th career win with a 2-0 win against Albertus Magnus.
One always stands tallest, though.
Carly Barnett, Byram Hills —
The Bobcats have arguably the most potent offense in the section, and one of the major reasons is the sophomore forward. Barnett has a balanced 21 goals and 14 assists for Byram Hills (14-1).
Barnett was once again solid for the Bobcats, posting a goal and assist in their 3-2 redemption win against Horace Greeley. She followed that up with two goals in Byram Hills’ 4-0 win against Blind Brook, a victory that secured the league title.
