Had a better showing last week, going 3-1-1. These ties are killing me, though. Thankfully this will be the last full week I’ll have to deal with them as playoffs start at the end of next week.
Let’s get after it.
OVERALL RECORD: 18-6-4
Lourdes at Somers, 4:15 p.m.
Pick: Somers, 3-1. I think the Tuskers will be eager to try and prove that their lone loss of the season, a 1-0 defeat against the Warriors, was a fluke. Expect a motivated Somers’ squad ready to defend its home field.
Byram Hills at Horace Greeley, 4:15 p.m.
Pick: Byram Hills, 3-1. Speaking of revenge games, the Bobcats will be looking to get some payback on a Quakers’ team that handed them their only loss of the season and shut them out. I think Byram Hills’ offense clicks this time.
Rye Country Day at Hackley, 4:15 p.m.
Pick: Rye Country Day, 3-2. I have a gut feeling this one is going to end in a tie, but predicting that is a cop out. I think the Wildcats’ high-powered offense is enough to hand the Hornets their first loss of the season.
Scarsdale at North Rockland, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: North Rockland, 3-0. This is potentially a Class AA sectional quarterfinal or semifinal preview depending how the seedings break down. I think the Red Raiders are motivated to win this battle of Class AA contenders in a game that is being played to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research in honor of a former player’s mother passed away from the disease before the start of the season.
Eastchester at Horace Greeley, 2 p.m.
Pick: Horace Greeley, 2-1. A big match up between Class AA and A contenders. I think the Quakers get in done at home.
