Last week was pretty miserable, in terms of my picks, as I went an abysmal 1-2-1. Although I didn’t predict the fire heard seen the world, I did pick the score of Somers’ win over Arlington dead on, so there was that.
Lets hope for a better performance this week.
With the end of the season just around the corner, the theme this week is league title battles. All five games are between two of the top teams in their respective leagues.
OVERALL RECORD: 15-5-3
Eastchester at Bronxville, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Eastchester, 2-1. The Eagles won the first meeting between these rivals a few weeks ago. Eastchester has continued to roll while the Broncos stumbled again last week with a loss to Pelham. The Eagles get a huge road win as they all but secure a league title.
Clarkstown South at North Rockland, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: North Rockland, 2-1. North Rockland won the first game of the series in a defensive battle on the road. I think the Red Raiders’ offense opens up a bit more, and they come away with a win in their friendly confines.
Haldane at Panas, 6:30 p.m.
Pick: Panas, 2-1. I picked Haldane to win at Panas last week. You all know what happened. While I still think the Blue Devils are the top squad in Class C, the Panthers have really impressed me this season. Call me a flip flopper, if you must, but I’m going with the Panthers at home.
Rye at Byram Hills, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Byram Hills, 3-2. The Bobcats were able to come away with a 2-1 win at Rye on Saturday night. It seems like Byram is firing on all cylinders when you consider the win came a little over 24 hours after a 5-1 win against Cornwall, a Class A state semifinalist last season. I can’t think of a reason to go against Byram at home.
Tappan Zee at Albertus Magnus, 8 p.m.
Pick: Tappan Zee, 2-1, 2 OT. These two played to a 2-2 tie in their first meeting. It seems like Tappan Zee keeps coming up on the short end of the stick in all these close games. Somethings gotta give eventually. I’ll take the Dutchies on the road.
