Week three was by far my worst week of the season. I finished an abysmal 2-2-1. Just when you think you have things figured out the section goes ahead and shakes itself up again.
Here’s hoping to a better result this time around.
OVERALL RECORD: 14-3-2
Tappan Zee at Rye, 5:45 p.m.
Pick: Rye, 3-1. Rye is one of the hottest teams in Class A, if not the section, right now. Before people start penciling in Somers and Byram Hills into the Class A final, they need to take a long look at the Garnets.
Panas at Haldane, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Haldane, 2-1. With Panas’ big win over Hen Hud last week the Panthers and Blue Devils became the front runners to win League I-D. I give the edge to Haldane at home.
Rye at Horace Greeley, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Horace Greeley, 2-1. I mentioned earlier that Rye was one of the hottest teams in the section. The Quakers aren’t that far behind after handing Byram Hills its first loss of the season last week. Advantage Quakers in a big league game.
Ardsley at Hastings, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Hastings, 3-2. The Yellow Jackets took a tough loss on the road earlier this season to the Panthers. There are few teams in the section that play better on their home field than Hastings, though. In a very important league game I’ll give the win to the Yellow Jackets.
Somers at Arlington, 3 p.m.
Pick: Somers, 3-2. Somers is one of the few undefeated teams that still remain in the section. I’ve been very impressed with the Tuskers play thus far. Arlington isn’t the same team that won a sectional title in 2012, but the Admirals are still a powerhouse of a program. Still, I think Somers get a big win on the road.
