First, I’d like to apologize for the delay. I can promise you that I did not forget about the most prestigious award this side of the Mississippi.
As always, Section 1 did not disappoint with impressive performances. Somers’ Ciara Ostrander had a few nice games as the Tuskers’ cruised to win the Yorktown tournament. Speaking of cruising, Carly Barnett had at least two points in all three of Byram Hills’ impressive wins. Bronxville’s Caitlin Fryer also had a nice week en route to helping the Broncos win their own tournament. Abby Squirrell came up big for Ossining in the Pride’s 2-1 week.
But, just like in Highlander, there can be only one…
Monica DiDonato, Eastchester—
DiDonato was a key component of the Eagles’ big week. The senior opened things up on Monday with a four-point game (three goals, one assist) as Eastchester jumped out to an early lead and secured a 5-3 win over Dobbs Ferry.
DiDonato closed the week out with two goals and an assist in the Eagles’ 3-0 win over Ardsley on Saturday.
Her biggest performance of the week came on Wednesday, though, when she assisted on Rachel Berk’s game-winning goal against Edgemont. The road win will prove vital as a the Eagles look to challenge Bronxville for the league title.
