Ossining’s Abby Squirrell didn’t miss much of the Pride’s 3-2 double-overtime win at home against Pleasantville.
The junior midfielder played in all but two minutes of the 100-minute game, recording two goals and an assist, including the game winner in the 92nd minute.
“She came to play today,” Ossining coach Philip Ishmael said. “She was there in the beginning of the game and there at the end. She did very well.”
Squirrell, a team captain, opened up the scoring in the ninth minute on an assist from Gabby Hagerman.
Pleasantville’s Remi Manna put the Panthers’ on the board with an assist from Maria Howe in the 53rd minute, but Squirrell found Hagerman to give Ossining the lead a minute later.
A lapse in the defense allowed Howe to find Manna for another goal, this one coming in the 77th minute.
“It almost cost us the game,” said Ishmael of giving up the late, game-tying goal. “I told the girls to let it go. We had several opportunities before, and we will have more.”
Kai Jordan had the assist on Squirrell’s game-winning goal.
“It’s good our girls hung in there and stuck it out,” Ishmael said.
