With a full week of games slated, the next six days is when we truly start getting into the heart of the season. The upcoming four weeks will give us a better idea of who is a contender and who is a pretender.
I did fairly well last week, sporting a 3-1-1 record (I count ties as ties. If they can tie, so can I!)
This week is another set of interesting match ups, the majority of which are based on school rivalries, which always makes things fun.
Overall record: 7-2-1
Clarkstown South at Clarkstown North, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Clarkstown South, 3-2. North had a very nice 2-0 win against a Nyack team that started the season very hot. Still, the Vikings are just too deep for me to bet against.
Mahopac at Somers, 4:15 p.m.
Pick: Somers, 2-1. The Indians posted an extremely respectable 1-0 loss to the reigning Class AA sectional champions, Arlington. The Tuskers have been on a tear, though. Seems like they have five different girls that can go off for a couple goals in any game.
Byram Hills at Pearl River, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Byram Hills, 3-1. Do the Bobcats have one of the strongest offenses in the section? It’s quite possible. The Pirates are still the reigning Class A sectional champions, though, and demand a certain amount of respect.
Nanuet at Albertus Magnus, 4:15 p.m.
Pick: Albertus Magnus, 2-1. The Golden Knights have done everything they’re supposed to, posting wins against White Plains, Croton-Harmon and East Ramapo. However, I was really impressed with the Falcons 2-1 win at Lourdes Saturday.
Suffern at North Rockland, 4:15 p.m.
Pick: North Rockland, 3-1. Suffern has the benefit of having played in a close game already this season (1-0 win against Albertus). Still, the Red Raiders offense is too potent for me to pick against.
