So, despite my concerns, I managed to put together a solid Week 1 with my picks. I only missed on one game, underrating a talented Nyack team.
With every school in action this week, things are about to get real fun. Below are the fives games I picked for the shortened week.

Overall record: 4-1
Somers at Panas, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Somers, 3-1. Panas has put together a couple of nice wins this past week against local rivals Yorktown and Lakeland to get its season started. Still, the Tuskers represent an entirely different animal.
Clarkstown South at Tappan Zee, 4:15 p.m.
Pick: Clarkstown South, 3-1. Both teams had nice wins on Saturday to open their season up. I think the Vikings deep senior class puts them among the elite in the section.
North Rockland at Pearl River, 4:15 p.m.
Pick: North Rockland, 3-1. The Class A sectional champions are back in action for the first time in 2013, but there are plenty of piece missing from last season, specifically 2012 Journal News Rockland Player of the Year Marissa Scognamiglio. The Red Raiders seemed primed to make a deep push this year in Class AA.
Scarsdale at Briarcliff, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Scarsdale, 2-1. Opposite ends of the spectrum for these two. The Bears are 2-0 and proud owners of the Mount Pleasant Cup while the Raiders got manhandled 4-0 at Clarkstown South. I think the Raiders will bounce back with a nice win against one of the top teams in Class B.
Mamaroneck at Horace Greeley, 4:30 p.m.
Pick: Mamaroneck, 3-2. Here we have two Westchester teams that suffered big losses against Rockland teams on Saturday, but should be potential contenders in Class AA. I’ll give the edge to the Tigers after their heartbreaking loss to Tappan Zee.
