Panas started its season off in a big way Wednesday with a 7-1 win at Lakeland.
Jenna DeSilva lead the way for the Panthers with a hat trick. Gianna Paglia added two goals and an assist.
“(DeSilva) played awesome up top,” Panthers’ coach Erica Werney said. “She’s so tough. She doesn’t let up.”
Layla Tabakovic chipped in two goals while Samantha Sodul had three assists. Kayla Moore had an assist. Kailey D’Assandro and Deanna DeIoria both made three saves to secure the win.
The Hornets’ Michaela Ferguson scored on an assist from Kailee DiVico. Katelyn Heinrich (12) and Julie Anna Smith (four) combined to make 16 saves in the loss.
“It’s funny, we are in the same district so we get along,” said Werney about the relationship the two teams have, “but something about playing them that makes your blood flow blue.”
