The finals of the Mount Pleasant Cup have been set. Valhalla defeated Pleasantville 2-0 while Briarcliff topped Westlake 4-1 to both in earn spots in Saturday’s final.
The Vikings’ Julianna Coraddi scored off a cross from Nikki Marmo to open the scoring in the first half. Vanessa Romero added another goal on an assist from Erin Brosnan. Frankie Guzzo made 11 saves in the win.
Lexi Grasso scored two goals in the Bears’ win. Cassidy Carrafiello had a goal and an assist. Grace Orr added a goal. Sophie Feuer and Lauren Miller each had an assist. Sydney Wolin made eight saves in the win. Amber Lulanaj scored on an assist from Helen You for the Wildcats. Stephanie Mele made 12 saves.
Valhalla will face Briarcliff in the finals Saturday at Valhalla at 5:30 p.m. Pleasantville will play Westlake in the consolations at 1:30 p.m.
“It’s very early in the season, a lot of the girls still aren’t back at school yet, and yet they have been able to start off on the right foot,” Briarcliff coach Owen Scully said. “There are still things we want to work on, but after our first game out the girls put a tremendous effort.”
